Today, September 28, 2025, the Faculty of Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics (FCIM) at the Technical University of Moldova held the official opening ceremony for the academic year. The event was marked by the presence of UTM’s rector, Professor Viorel Bostan, PhD, who delivered an emotional and inspiring message to the new first-year students.
In his speech, the UTM rector warmly welcomed the new students:
“Dear students, congratulations on your choice and on deciding to begin your professional journey at UTM. Our university is constantly evolving—we are modernizing student spaces, creating high-performance laboratories, and investing in infrastructure, all so that you can benefit from the best possible study conditions. You, the students, are UTM’s greatest asset. We want to see outstanding graduates in a few years—professionals we can be proud of, who will carry the name of UTM forward.
Thank you for the trust you’ve placed in us, for entrusting us with your future for the next few years. I know it won’t be easy, but nothing of value comes easily. Still, nothing is impossible when you have ambition, perseverance, and a desire to learn. It’s up to you to turn this period into an experience that will shape your life.
For us, the student is what matters most. We want to be not just the university where you study, but the community you belong to. That’s why we encourage you to get involved, to be active in university life, and to make your voices heard. Your voice matters, and we want to build a better, more vibrant, and more connected university together with you.”
Alongside the rector, the students were also congratulated by the dean of FCIM, Associate Professor Dumitru Ciorbă, PhD, who introduced them to the faculty, the professors, and the opportunities that await them:
“The Faculty of Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics is one of the most dynamic and modern faculties at UTM. You’ll be taught by dedicated professors, follow study programs aligned with labor market demands, and have access to numerous research and innovation projects in which you can participate. We are confident that here you will find not only knowledge, but also friends, mentors, and opportunities that will help you build a successful career.”
The opening of the academic year at FCIM marks only the beginning. In the coming days, all UTM faculties will organize similar events to inform students about the structure of their study programs, their schedules, extracurricular activities, and the many opportunities the university has to offer.
Thus, the new academic year at UTM begins with enthusiasm, growth, and a shared promise: to shape the future through education and professionalism.
