I. GENERAL INFORMATION
April 30, 1964 – foundation of Polytechnic Institute in Chisinau and the Faculty of Mechanics.
1993 – it is divided, forming two faculties, which merge in 2014 to form the faculty with the current name.
At FMET, study about 750 full-time students and 430 students at reduced attendancy courses.
Mechanical and industrial engineers carry out researches, design and manufacture industrial products, machinery and mechanical systems for various uses. They can also accomplish tasks related to the assessment, installation, operation and maintenance of equipment and mechanical systems as well as those of transport.

V. TEACHING STAFF
At the faculty activate 155 teachers, including 88 PhDs and Habilitate Doctors.
VI. FACILITIES AND COMPETENCES
Education and research at the faculty provide formation of professional competencies related to:
- product conceiving at technical and design level, conceiving of manufacturing processes and technological systems
- production management, quality and maintenance throughout the life cycle of products, organization and management of small businesses in the fields of machine-building, food and light industry, transport and other
- creation and use of new and modern production processes, technological processes, automation means, etc.
- creation and use of industrial Computer Science systems
- creating an environment of continuous improvement of products and industrial processes, promoting ecological quality and safety in accordance with the standards and norms requirements ISO 9000 and ISO 14000
The content and form of education at the faculty are determined by the context of the contemporary academic and industrial background in accordance with the Bologna Declaration.
VII. INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
International relations of the faculty and departments are focused on the following directions:

VIII. ACHIEVEMENTS
Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and Transport is certified in the implementation and maintenance of Quality Management System that meets the requirements of the standard EN ISO 9001:2008 in the following areas: higher education, Ph.d. in engineering, postgraduate continuous training, initial and continuing training activities, pedagogical training activities, research -development in engineering.
