Innovation and Excellence of UTM in the Fashion Industry: Official Recognition at KNUTD

The Technical University of Moldova has achieved remarkable success on the international stage! Two graduates from the “Product Design and Development” master’s program at the Faculty of Design (FD), Maria MUNTEANU and Ionela Vlada GRAUR, guided by Associate Professor Dr. Angela SCRIPCENCO, earned top honors at the International Student Research Competition hosted by the National University of Technologies and Design in Kyiv (KNUTD).

Maria MUNTEANU’s project, titled “Promotion of National Identity in Uniforms for Hotel Services,” was awarded first prize in the Art & Design category.  Her work stood out for its seamless blend of traditional national costume elements with contemporary hotel uniform design. The integration of 3D simulation to combine aesthetic, ergonomic, and functional features brought originality and practical relevance to her concept.

Ionela Vlada GRAUR also won first prize in the Fashion Industry category with her project, “Redesign, Reuse, and 3D Prototyping as an Efficient Approach to Sustainable Fashion.” Her work proposed innovative solutions for sustainability in fashion by using recycled denim and 3D prototyping technologies to create modern and sustainable clothing. She demonstrated creativity and innovation, along with practical applicability in reducing excessive resource consumption.

The second edition of the competition, held on October 25, 2024, brought together over 100 participants from China, the United Kingdom, Austria, Serbia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine. The three stages of the competition – national selection, international evaluation, and final presentation during a scientific and practical conference – were assessed by a prestigious international jury, emphasizing the rigor and high standards of the event.

The participation of the Technical University of Moldova in this competition highlights the quality of education and research within the Faculty of Design. Maria MUNTEANU and Ionela Vlada GRAUR have proven that academic excellence and innovation are inseparable, solidifying UTM’s reputation as a leader in design and fashion technologies on the global stage.

Congratulations to the ambassadors of creativity from FD-UTM for their professionalism and remarkable achievements! Their success is an inspiration and reinforces our confidence that the future of the fashion industry is in talented and capable hands.
