On September 8, 2024, the Faculty of Design at the Technical University of Moldova (FD-UTM) proudly showcased the creations of its students and faculty at the renowned Transilvania Fashion Festival 2024 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Now in its fourth edition, the festival, held under the auspices of the European Fashion Council and FashionTV, brings together some of the world’s most innovative designers, shining a spotlight on modern and avant-garde fashion trends.
FD-UTM’s presence at the festival stood out with two impressive collections:
- The collective collection SUBZERO, created by first, second, and third-year students, drew inspiration from the captivating world of reptiles. This collection explored unique textures, geometric cuts, and innovative materials, highlighting the contrast between strength and fragility, symbolizing the complexity of these creatures. The collection’s authors include Livia CĂPĂȚ NĂ, Aihan BETUL, Cristina LEVIȚCHI, Alina MÎȚĂ, Victoria TURCU, Anastasia ZAVTUR, Mirela ȚURCANU, Marialina EFROS, Vlada PĂTRAȘCU, Mihaela CEBAN, Valeria LITOVCA, Liubovi CRASOVACAIA, Valeria CUCIUC, Valeria SOLOMCA, and Daria CAȚER.
- The FERMME brand collection, designed by professors Alina TOCARCIUC and Daniela NAVAL, explored psychological and spiritual themes. Featuring oval and rectangular shapes, a black and gray color palette, and unisex cuts, FERMME reflects on emotional introspection and the need for authenticity.
The Dean of the Faculty of Design, Associate Professor Dr. Sergiu TRONCIU, thanked the administration of the Technical University of Moldova for their continued support, emphasizing the importance of the university’s presence on the international fashion stage. He also expressed his pride in UTM’s participation in all four editions of this prestigious event, the active promotion of young talent, and the support offered to the boldest ideas from the Republic of Moldova.
The Transilvania Fashion Festival 2024 provided a remarkable platform to showcase the talent and creativity of young UTM designers, reaffirming the university’s active role in promoting Moldova’s most daring ideas and trends. This festival aligns with a 30-year tradition of celebrating fashion excellence through a series of galas that extend beyond European borders. From its first edition, the Transilvania Fashion Festival quickly established itself on the international fashion scene thanks to its wide-range approach. At this year’s edition, UTM, through its Faculty of Design and the Industrial Fashion Design program, proudly represented the Republic of Moldova alongside Romania and 120 other designers from eight countries, including Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Serbia, Bulgaria, Hungary, China, and Egypt.
