“Azerbaijani Ambassador’s Courtesy Visit to UTM: Exploring Academic Collaboration Opportunities”

The Technical University of Moldova is strengthening its role as a regional leader in technical and agricultural education. Through international collaborations and investments in modern infrastructure, UTM is committed to training highly qualified specialists and promoting top-tier scientific research.

Today, UTM Rector and Professor Viorel BOSTAN met with His Excellency Ulvi BAKHSHALIYEV, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Moldova. The main purpose of this visit was to explore potential new opportunities for academic collaboration between universities in both countries and to expand the ERASMUS+ program.

Both officials expressed great enthusiasm for the potential of this partnership. UTM Rector Viorel BOSTAN, accompanied by Daniela POJAR, Vice-Rector for Financial Affairs and International Relations, emphasized the importance of international collaboration in enhancing education quality at UTM. “We are open to new partnerships as they bring significant benefits to both our students and those from Azerbaijan,” stated the rector.

Ambassador Ulvi BAKHSHALIYEV appreciated the openness and professionalism of the UTM team. “We consider this visit to UTM an important step in strengthening the relations between the two countries and will contribute to the development of education in both countries,” noted His Excellency.

During the discussions, several directions for future collaboration were identified, such as providing opportunities for students to study in both countries, thereby promoting multiculturalism and exchange of experience, and expanding Erasmus+ programs to facilitate student and academic staff mobility.

In this context, Rector Bostan presented the ambassador with UTM’s modern facilities, including the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, which offers instruction in English, and the study programs in French and English (the Anglophone and Francophone branches). He highlighted UTM’s commitment to launching new programs taught exclusively in English, making it an attractive choice for international students. UTM is recognized as the only higher education institution in the country focused on both technical and agricultural fields, providing a diverse range of programs and a high-quality academic environment.

Ambassador Ulvi BAKHSHALIYEV expressed optimism about the potential collaborations between UTM and higher education institutions in Azerbaijan. He appreciated UTM’s leadership’s openness and willingness to cooperate, believing these initiatives will bring significant benefits to both parties.

This meeting marks an important step in strengthening academic relations between Moldova and Azerbaijan. Through this visit, the Technical University of Moldova is reinforcing its position as an international university, and students from both countries are set to benefit from new professional development opportunities.
