“Brașov Summer Camp: An Unforgettable Experience for Industrial and Product Design Students”

The dedication to transferring high-quality engineering knowledge to generations of students at the Technical University of Moldova remains impressive, upheld by over 25 years of tradition. This commitment was once again celebrated from July 7-17 during the summer camp organized in collaboration with Transilvania University of Brașov (UNITBV), Romania. Students had the chance to apply their skills in a real-world setting and learn from some of the top professionals in the field.

Under the coordination of Assoc. Prof. Valeriu PODBORSCHI, Head of the Department of Industrial and Product Design at UTM, and Prof. Dr. Alin OLĂRESCU, Dean of the Faculty of Furniture Design and Wood Engineering at UNITBV, students from both universities worked together on innovative projects. These projects involved creating objects of traditional and modernist rural design, as well as furniture for recreational areas in university campuses. This hands-on experience allowed the young designers to showcase their skills in wood processing, technical and technological design, and the development of various wood products.

“We are delighted with our collaboration with the Technical University of Moldova and look forward to continuing this fruitful partnership in the future,” said Prof. Dr. Alin OLĂRESCU, Dean of the Faculty of Furniture Design and Wood Engineering at UNITBV.

Special thanks are due to Mr. Valeriu BUDULAN, Head of Workshop at UNITBV, and the engineers who generously shared their knowledge with the students. Their dedicated guidance and coordination were crucial to the camp’s success and played a key role in shaping the next generation of designers.

As this enriching experience comes to a close, we wish all the students significant accomplishments in their future endeavors. UNITBV Rector Prof. Dr. Eng. Ioan Vasile ABRUDAN expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity to contribute to the development of talented young individuals, eager to reach new heights both professionally and personally.
