Natalia MIRON, a graduate of the Master’s program in Fashion and Textile Design at the Technical University of Moldova, is an inspiration for those seeking to harmoniously blend family traditions with modern innovation. Coming from a family of beekeepers, Natalia has ingeniously brought this heritage into the spotlight by integrating it into the world of sustainable fashion.
During her master’s studies, Natalia showcased an exceptional passion for fashion and sustainability. Her graduation project, a military-style vest and skirt made from biomaterials, including propolis from her family’s apiary, caught the attention of the fashion community and highlighted her capacity for innovation. Using her home kitchen as a creative lab, Natalia experimented with different combinations and eventually developed a revolutionary bio-based, durable material similar to leather, with propolis as the main ingredient. Her creative and innovative spirit laid the foundation for a new approach to bio-materials in Moldova’s textile industry.

Natalia’s enthusiasm for fashion dates back to her childhood. In a special corner of her heart, needle and thread always hold a cherished place, preserving vivid memories of her first encounter with her grandmother’s inherited sewing machine.
“I discovered my passion for sewing at 14 when my crafts teacher gave me a book about the sewing process. I read it cover to cover and was absolutely fascinated. That’s when I decided to use my grandmother’s sewing machine for the first time,” Natalia recalls.

An engineer by profession, Natalia has devoted recent years to her family business, an apiary in Boldurești, where she, alongside her husband and two sons, cares for 250 bee families. In 2022, however, her desire to explore new horizons led her to pursue a master’s degree in Fashion and Textile Design at UTM and ZIPHOUSE Fashion Hub. There, she had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned professors from both home and abroad and learn innovative technologies in fashion design. The personalized approach of the professors significantly impacted her.
“My master’s experience was like a breath of fresh air for me. Professors from Romania and Italy helped me broaden my horizons and better understand the connection between design and textile engineering,” says Natalia.
Looking ahead, Natalia dreams of designing dresses for women that blend hand-sewing techniques with mechanized methods. “I would love to create dresses that reflect both craftsmanship and innovation. I have an idea in mind, but we’ll see if it comes to fruition,” she confides.
Natalia Miron’s story is a living testament that dedication and determination can bridge seemingly different worlds, creating something truly unique and innovative. She stands as a source of inspiration for everyone wishing to merge tradition with modernity and make a positive impact in the fashion world.
