On July 2, the third edition of the EEBG 2024 Summer School (Eastern European Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics) was officially opened in Suceava, Romania. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Viorel BOSTAN, Rector of the Technical University of Moldova, and Dr. Mihai DIMIAN, Rector of “Ștefan cel Mare” University of Suceava (USV). The rector was joined by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dumitru Ciorbă, Dean of the Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics.
The EEBG 2024 Summer School runs from July 1 to July 12, 2024, bringing together researchers and students from bioinformatics, computational genomics, medicine, and biology.
“It is wonderful to see valuable connections and collaborations are being formed, which will contribute to the development of bioinformatics in our region,” stated UTM Rector, Dr. Viorel BOSTAN, highlighting the importance of international partnerships and knowledge exchange among researchers from Eastern Europe.
The EEBG 2024 Summer School fosters collaboration and networking. The program includes lectures, hands-on workshops, and group projects on various topics such as data analysis and visualization, data structures for biological sequences, and more.

EEBG 2024 features a unique format, hosted in two European countries, Moldova and Romania, and involving two prestigious universities: “Ștefan cel Mare” University of Suceava (USV) and the Technical University of Moldova. The event stands as a successful example of promoting academic excellence and innovation in bioinformatics and high-performance computing.
Tomorrow, the EEBG 2024 Summer School will continue with sessions focused on deepening participants’ understanding of bioinformatics and computational genomics. Attendees will have the opportunity to collaborate with renowned experts and explore the latest trends and technologies in the field.
