On June 6, the rector of the Technical University of Moldova, Mr. Viorel Bostan, proudly represented the institution at the esteemed “Moldova Digital Summit 2024.” During the panel discussion titled “Bridging the Digital Skills Gap: Aligning Market Needs and Education for a Prosperous Future,” Mr. Bostan emphasized UTM’s essential role in preparing future generations to meet digital challenges.
The Rector highlighted the major innovations taking place at UTM, especially through the cutting-edge Tekwill Hub. This center serves as a catalyst for new ideas and a dedicated space for advancing technological projects. “Tekwill has become a magnet for tech-savvy students, providing them with the necessary resources to transform their ideas into reality,” noted Mr. Bostan.

The Rector pointed out the growing interest among young people in the field of technology, as seen in the growing number of students enrolling in IT programs. This trend underscores both the attraction of young people to innovation and UTM’s ongoing efforts to offer relevant and up-to-date educational programs.
Continuing the discussion, Mr. Bostan outlined UTM’s key priorities: developing a dynamic educational ecosystem and a community centered around the professions of the future. A prime example is the major “Cybercor” project, which aims to create a strong community for cybersecurity careers. Through this initiative, UTM seeks to adapt its curriculum to equip students and society with the skills needed to face future cybersecurity challenges.
In addition to technical specializations, UTM focuses on integrating cross-disciplinary digital literacy skills into the curriculum, as specified by Mr. Bostan. The Rector emphasized the importance of embedding digital competencies into various study programs, such as economics, veterinary sciences, and modern entrepreneurship. This holistic approach ensures that UTM graduates are well-prepared to contribute to a wide range of industries.

Another crucial aspect discussed by Mr. Bostan was modern entrepreneurship education offered by UTM through international partnerships. The institution is committed to training future leaders capable of innovating and running successful businesses in the digital age. The educational programs are designed to develop leadership skills, critical thinking, and the ability to navigate the ever-changing technological landscape.
Innovative initiatives don’t stop there, as technological progress is UTM’s signature hallmark.
Mr. Viorel Bostan’s participation in the Moldova Digital Summit 2024 highlights UTM’s dedication to leading in digital education and technological innovation. Through its various initiatives, UTM equips students for successful careers and plays an active role in shaping a prosperous digital future for the Republic of Moldova.
