A new free technical workshop “PALO ALTO NETWORKS – CORTEX XDR, XSOAR, XPANSE, UNIT-42, AND NEXT GENERATION FIREWALL” in partnership with XONTECH SYSTEMS, UTM, and CYBERCOR

On May 30, as part of the partnership between Xontech Systems, UTM, and CYBERCOR, a new free technical workshop was organized featuring the leading security products manufacturer, Palo Alto Networks.

The event, held at the “Courtyard by Marriott Chișinău,” focused on two important topics relevant to participants from both public institutions and the private sector:

– Designing a “Modern SOC” using products such as Cortex XDR, XSOAR, XPANSE, and UNIT-42.
– Effectively protecting infrastructure with the “Palo Alto – Next-Generation Firewall.”

This workshop was tailored for institutions and individuals seeking to enhance their experience in strengthening information security at the endpoint, infrastructure, and platform levels. Certified expert trainers from Palo Alto Networks, including Teodor Fuica (System Engineer), Teodor Iacob (Manager, System Engineer), Alex Duțu (Account Manager), and Cătălina Iosub (Cortex System Engineer), focused on both theoretical and practical aspects, covering the following topics:

1. Palo Alto Networks – Designing a “Modern SOC”:
– Palo Alto Cortex XDR
– Palo Alto XSOAR
– Palo Alto XPANSE
– Palo Alto UNIT-42

2. Palo Alto Cortex XDR – Real-Time Extended Detection and Response Platform – UTD (Ultimate Test Drive) & Hands-On Workshop:
– Extended detection and response
– Advanced threat analysis
– Automated response and remediation
– Integration and scalability

3. Palo Alto NGFW – Next-Generation Firewall – UTD (Ultimate Test Drive) & Hands-On Workshop:
– Threat prevention and advanced network visibility
– IPS/IDS and VPN protection
– Application-level analysis
– Integration with the Cortex XDR platform
– User-based security
– Automation and orchestration
– Cloud security integration

“We want these training sessions to be recurring, bringing valuable expertise to help you make informed decisions based on the situation at hand,” stated Andrian Cornei, General Director of Xontech Systems. In his welcome message, Mr. Cornei emphasized the joint efforts with the National Institute of Innovation in Cyber Security “CYBERCOR” established at UTM and Palo Alto Networks to focus on practical solutions in line with the latest digital technologies against cyberattacks.

At the event, UTM’s Vice-Rector for Digitalization and strategic coordinator of CYBERCOR, Dinu Țurcanu, the upcoming opening of the National Cyber Security Hub at UTM in the fall of 2024. Spanning approximately 1,500 m², this hub is supported by the Future Technologies project, funded by USAID, the Government of Sweden, and the United Kingdom. The Foundation for Development in the Republic of Moldova, which coordinates the Google grant awarded to CYBERCOR, also plays a crucial role in establishing educational partnerships.

Expressing his satisfaction with this accomplishment, Mr. Țurcanu highlighted that, thanks to strategic partnerships, support of donors and development partners, UTM is contributing to raising awareness and competencies in the field of security, fostering a cyber culture at the national level.

This training is part of a series of planned sessions for 2024, conducted in collaboration with CYBERCOR and UTM. The goal is to provide expertise to both public and private institutions, facilitating the transfer of knowledge so that these entities can implement and utilize best practices and solutions in the respective fields.

The team uses advanced threat analysis technologies, including machine learning and behavioral analysis, to identify and assess security risks and develop effective defense strategies.
