As part of the Ukrainian refugee crisis management program, the Technical University of Moldova is showing solidarity and commitment to young refugees from Ukraine. By providing essential support, UTM ensures these students can continue their studies and integrate effectively into Moldova’s educational system, despite the ongoing challenges. For the third consecutive year, UTM is organizing special exam sessions to facilitate refugees’ access to quality education.
This initiative is in response to a request from the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova, which recognizes UTM’s expertise and resources as essential for successfully organizing the exams. To this end, the University has provided four rooms, each equipped with 12 computers, and assigned qualified staff to oversee and facilitate the examination process.

These exams are crucial for young refugees to gain admission to higher education institutions in the Republic of Moldova and abroad.
Vilena Frumușachi, a principal specialist responsible for the Testing Center for Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova, along with the UTM Information and Communication Technology Department (DTIC) team, has been appointed to ensure the exams run smoothly. Alongside the team of instructors, they have created an optimal environment for conducting the tests.
With the support of Rector Viorel Bostan and Vice-Rector for Digitalization Dinu Țurcanu, the DTIC team at UTM has played a vital role in organizing and overseeing these exams. The instructors who contributed to the successful execution of this process include:
Alexandru Grăchilă, DTIC, UTM;
Lesea Teres, professor, Ukraine;
Hanna Tabarcea, professor, Ukraine;
Elena Tabacar, professor, Ukraine;
Dmitri Ciumakov, UTM student, Ukraine.

This year, candidates are taking the National Test, which includes four subjects: Ukrainian Language, Mathematics, Ukrainian History, and a subject of their choice depending on the intended specialty. The tests are conducted online in the computer rooms of the UTM Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics, enabling applicants to apply for undergraduate studies in both the Republic of Moldova and other countries.
The exam sessions take place in two stages over five days, from June 1-6, 2024. This year, 198 Ukrainian students have registered to take the National Test.

Supporting the UTM team are Lilia Natalcenko, the methodologist responsible for the UTM testing site from the Donetsk Regional Center for Educational Quality Assessment (Ukraine), and Ivan Duminica, head of the Department of Interethnic Relations Policies at the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova.
This period is emotionally charged for thousands of refugee children and young people from Ukraine who are preparing to take their final exams and move forward in life. UTM not only offers them logistical support but also instills confidence in their academic prospects, distinguishing itself as a community actively involved in helping those in need. Through its support for young Ukrainian refugees, UTM contributes to building a brighter future for them and promoting the fundamental values of education and compassion.
The Technical University of Moldova extends its best wishes to all Ukrainian students for success in their exams and pledges to provide them with all the support they need to reach their academic goals!
