The students of “George Călinescu” Theoretical High School explored academic opportunities at the Technical University of Moldova

A day of exciting discoveries for the students of two 12th grade classes and one 11th grade class with a focus on science at the “George Călinescu” Theoretical High School in Chișinău. Their visit to the Technical University of Moldova left them with a sense of endless possibilities, impressed by the dedicated professors, exceptional facilities, and lively atmosphere on the university campus.

Their trip began with a warm welcome from the organizers of the visit – Radu MELNIC and Natalia ȘESTENCO, administrators of the Center for Career Orientation and Counseling. The students were treated to a fascinating glimpse into the university’s 11 faculties, as well as an invitation to participate in two major events – the Republican Technical Olympiad in Mathematics, Art, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science, and the Doors Open Day at UTM, during which they will benefit from visits to study and research spaces, presentations of study programs, and career opportunities offered by UTM partners.

At the Faculty of Design, the students were pleasantly surprised to be guided by a former high school colleague – Tatiana ȚIGĂNAȘ, currently a student of “Industrial Design.” She shared insights into the close relationship between design and art, and technique and technology, inspiring the students to explore this field further.

Eager to learn more, some students expressed interest in the Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics. There, they were greeted and taken on an engaging tour highlighting the faculty’s culture of creativity and innovation.

Meanwhile, another group of students had the chance to discover the specifics of the Faculty of Food Technology. In a captivating conversation with the dean, Iurie SUBOTIN, they discovered the practical significance of the faculty’s specialties in daily life.

Accompanied by Mrs. Ecaterina RUSU, deputy director for education, and the homeroom teacher of the 11th “B” class, Adrian GORINCIOI, the students expressed their gratitude for the hospitality and the incredible opportunities they discovered in the field of engineering.

As the day concluded, the CCOC administration wished the students success in their Baccalaureate exams, in the hope of seeing them again at the UTM Admission Committee.
