With openness towards collaboration and confidence in a strong and productive partnership, Mr. Bostan provided the delegation from Sibiu with a thorough overview of the agenda for the upcoming 3-day visit. In his capacity as the institution’s manager, Mr. Bostan introduced the delegation to UTM’s 11 faculties and the diverse range of study programs, strategically adapted to meet the dynamic demands of the constantly evolving industries.

“In addition to our traditional polytechnic school, we also offer study programs in other fields. We’ve become more comprehensive than we were a few years ago, now standing as the sole engineering university in Moldova, and more recently, a veterinary-agricultural university as well,” mentioned Mr. Bostan.

The guests were guided through the innovative centers within UTM: Tekwill, Fablab, the Microvinification Center, the National Center for Space Technologies, Agrotek Arena, the Mini Didactic Farm, and ongoing projects such as “Cybercor” and Agrotek Park. Mr. Bostan elaborated on their specifics and the substantial contributions of development partners, notably USAID.

The delegation consists of Prof. Sorin RADU, Ph.D., Rector of Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu, Romania; Ioan BONDREA, D.Eng, professor at Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu, Romania; Sever Gabriel RACZ, D.Eng, professor at Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu, Romania; Ghiță B RSAN, Rector-Commander of the Land Forces Academy in Sibiu, Romania; Ioan VIRCA, Vice-Rector for Research at the Land Forces Academy in Sibiu, Romania; Vasile CĂRUȚAȘU, Vice-Rector for Programs and International Relations at the Land Forces Academy in Sibiu, Romania; Elena-Ramona HERMAN, Erasmus Coordinator at the Land Forces Academy in Sibiu, Romania.

Referring to the history of collaboration between UTM and universities in Romania, the rector stated:

“Our collaboration with Romanian universities holds significant importance. Since 1991-1992, our priority has been to reintroduce education in the Romanian language, considering that almost all study programs were in Russian until 1989. The support from Romanian universities, through book donations, content, and professor exchanges has been invaluable in our efforts to relaunch education in Romanian, and we continue to advance this collaboration.”

During his speech, the rector outlined the main objectives for the visit.

“I am confident that our visit will be a fruitful one. We are eager to explore new avenues of collaboration, particularly in terms of mobility and double degree programs. Additionally, we see potential in hosting visiting professors and engaging in joint research projects, as well as joint doctoral programs, various student competitions, and visits. Given our extensive experience in implementing ERASMUS projects, both as lead coordinators and partners, such initiatives also hold promise for cooperation. We aspire to be reliable partners. I am certain that we will achieve great things,” concluded Mr. Bostan.

On the first day, the guests enjoyed a tour of the Râșcani campus and its facilities: Tekwill, Fablab, and FCIM. They also participated in a working session at the FTA and visited laboratories associated with projects such as “Moldova’s Orchard” and “Wine Supply Chain,” along with the Microvinification section, FIMIT, the National Center for Space Technologies, and the Scientific Library. The day concluded with dinner.

The aim of the visit of the Sibiu delegation is to establish new collaborations with UTM across multiple domains, including education, research, projects, and exchange of best practices.

The agenda for the following days includes visits to the Botanica campus (FIEB, FCGC, FUA), the Military Department, and the Mircești campus (Agrotek Arena, Mini Didactic Farm).

As a trusted partner, UTM is committed to promoting fruitful collaborations, strengthening academic relations, and fostering knowledge and innovation in technical and scientific fields.

This visit marks the beginning of a promising journey towards mutual growth and success.
