Secretary of State of DRRM, Adrian Dupu, delighted to visit the “Henri Coandă” Auditorium during lectures at UTM

Secretary of State for the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova (DRRM), Adrian DUPU, paid a visit to the Technical University of Moldova. There, in the “Henri Coandă” Auditorium—named after the renowned Romanian scientist and engineer Henri Coandă, creator of the world’s first jet-powered aircraft—he engaged in a friendly and insightful dialogue with the students and faculty members of UTM.

Stepping into this recently renovated and modernized academic space, a result of a collaborative effort between the Romanian Government and the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova, is like stepping into a living history. It’s not just a physical transformation, but a call for today’s students of UTM to honor and embrace the legacy of Henri Coandă, the pioneer of Romanian aviation.

Coincidentally or not, one of the initial grand events held in this revamped hall was the IManEE-2023 International Conference (Innovative Manufacturing Engineering & Energy International Conference), hosted by Ion BOSTAN, a distinguished engineer-academician of our times. Whether in his former role as the rector of UTM or in his current position as a professor, Mr. Bostan encourages young minds to delve into the intricacies of engineering and the history of Romanian engineering, in an effort to highlight the significant contributions of these fields across other areas.

Mr. Bostan is widely recognized for his contributions to the development of Precessional Planetary Transmissions—a technology of immense importance in applications ranging from cosmic flight devices to submersible complexes for extracting natural resources from the depths of the Planetary Ocean.

In the company of academician Ion Bostan and faculty members from the Faculty of Design and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Transport, Secretary of State Adrian DUPU experienced the lively atmosphere of the “Henri Coandă” Auditorium firsthand. His visit coincided with an ongoing lecture, allowing him to genuinely appreciate the results and efficiency of the financial support extended by DRRM for the renovation of this academic space.

His response matched his enthusiasm:

“I missed the inauguration, but I was eager to witness the results. I happened to stumble upon a class, giving me the perfect opportunity to hear directly from students about the positive impact of this project. The professors I spoke with also expressed their gratitude to Romania for the support. Undoubtedly, investments in such initiatives yield not only immediate but also long-term results, as investing in education is investing in the future generations!”

Both students and university faculty emphasized the benefits of the project funded by DRRM for the hundreds of diligent young scholars and professors who step into the auditorium every day for lectures and seminars. Profoundly grateful, they thanked Romania for the support provided.
