As part of a charitable initiative, students from the UTM Faculty of Veterinary Medicine have taken significant steps to promote animal health by conducting a massive vaccination campaign against viral diseases in cats and against rabies in dogs.
Under the guidance of Professor Nicolae Starciuc, students joined forces to provide free vaccinations and medical care to the most vulnerable creatures in the community.
Cats were safeguarded against viral diseases such as rhinotracheitis and panleukopenia, increasing their chances of survival and improving their overall quality of life. Dogs were immunized against rabies, a dangerous disease that poses a threat to both animals and humans.
These measures not only enhance the well-being of animals, but also contribute to the protection of humans against contagious diseases. Vaccinating domestic animals ensures both their protection and the prevention of the spread of illnesses within the community.
“This is an impactful initiative that reflects our commitment to animal welfare and public health. We appreciate the support provided by the Technical University and the guidance offered by Professor Starciuc Nicolae in this important project”, stated one of the students.
This action not only highlights the professional skills of future veterinarians, but also showcases their direct involvement in the community, applying the knowledge acquired during their studies.
The population responded with enthusiasm to this initiative, and the positive impact is visible in this community that now enjoys healthier animals and reduced risks of disease transmission.
Such initiatives are remarkable examples of how education and commitment can transform lives, benefiting both animals and humans, and bringing a ray of hope and health to our communities.
