Electric Hackathon 2022

This year’s ELECTRIC HACKATHON engineering competition, held on December 21-22 in the FabLab Chisinau engineering hub, challenged students to come up with smart solutions to modern problems.

     The participants benefited from a number of opportunities, including:

  1. Feedback from experts in the field – Artiom MOLDOVAN and Alexandru JALBĂ, who provided an objective evaluation of the projects and suggestions for further development and improvement of the prototypes;
  2. An awesome environment for creative minds – the people, the tools, the fast pace – EVERYTHING contributed to setting up an inspiring atmosphere, perfect for the development of innovative technologies;
  3. Networking – building new connections and accelerating the students’ professional evolution in the technology field.

     Each participant had to build a device for object sorting, while meeting the following requirements:

  • to perform object sorting;
  • to include communication techniques;
  • to use lighting elements;
  • to be made of easily accessible components;
  • to be original and to have a pleasant external appearance.
     The assessment of projects took place on Energy Worker’s Day, during which the teams presented their concept to the evaluation committee, made up of Assoc. Prof., Dr. Vadim CAZAC, UTM Department of Electrical Engineering; Irina ŢERIGRADEAN, deputy head of the department within the Agency for Energy Efficiency; Grigore RETIŞ, representative of the MESA project financed by USAID Moldova, as well as representatives of the partners – Tekwill/Fablab Chisinau, VOLTA and Zubcu Energy.
     The results of the evaluation are as follows:
  1. The PATRIOT team (Ion CARAI, Vladislav COCIMARIUC, Ivan STAVILA, Gheorghe VÎRLAN, Daniel VRAJITORU – FEIE, year 4) – 1st place and the People’s choice award;
  2. The team made up of students Andrian BOCANCEA and Mihail MUSTEAȚA (FCIM, year 2) – 2nd place;
