The graduate of the UTM Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Department of Architecture, Nicoleta VACARU, once again fascinated the public with her works. For a month, everyone can enjoy her creations by attending the exhibition titled „În spatele măștilor” (“Behind the masks”), displayed inside the “Alexei Mateevici” Theatre.
Since 2013, when she made her debut in the field of art, she seeks to maintain a contemporary, sensitive and ingenious character in her works. In addition to oil paintings, she chose to experiment with another distinctive technique – String Art. The “Behind the masks” exhibition includes a collection of artworks made of thread and nails, as well as oil paintings.
The display was admired by the current students of the UTM Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning as well. The young people expressed their admiration for the author’s talent and ability to deliver such a strong emotion of “spirituality and beauty”, which they have felt during another of Ms. Vacaru’s exhibitions, organized recently at FUA-UTM, on the Faculty’s 50th anniversary. The event became an inspiring meeting between today’s students and yesterday’s graduates, which served as a fantastic source of thrill and stimulus for creating new art. The young artist stated affectively: “I owe all my merits to this beautiful faculty!”
Originally from Orhei, Republic of Moldova, Nicoleta Vacaru started learning about painting and art techniques in her hometown. Then, she made the decision to move to Chisinau and graduate in Architecture at UTM. Ms. Vacaru finished her degree in 2013 and started experimenting with the String Art technique, through which the young artist manages to elegantly convey emotions and ideas in black and white, but opting for much brighter tones in her paintings. She also chooses to mix different techniques in her works by including acrylic paint, the batik technique, and sometimes even coffee into her compositions. Although her creations reached an impressive level of expressiveness, Ms. Vacaru declares that she won’t stop here and will keep experimenting.
