On January 13, 2022, the 11 graduates of the Master’s program “Management of Sanitary Engineering Systems and Environment Protection” of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning successfully defended their Master’s theses.
The theses, prepared under the aegis of the professors and advisors Dr. Sergiu CALOS, Dr. Natalia CIOBANU and Dr. Ion IONEŢ, focus on pressing issues in the field:
- “Removal of nitrogen compounds (NH4 – ammonium, NO2 – nitrites, NO3 – nitrates) from groundwater” – Vasile BATRÎNAC;
- „Usage of sludge from the wastewater treatment plant in the Florești town as an energy source: a case study” – Mariana BRUMA;
- “Wastewater treatment from technological processes in the food industry” – Victoria CIUŞ;
- „Study on the operation of the meteoric water system of Chișinău” – Andrian COSTIN;
- „Processing of urban household waste with advanced treatment of formed leachate” – Alexandru DODI;
- “Removal of fluoride (F) from groundwater” – Gheorghe EFROS;
- “New technologies for anaerobic-aerobic concentrated wastewater treatment in organic substances” – Sergiu LUCA;
- “Removal of iron (Fe) from groundwater” – Dragoş MANOLE;
- “Study on the operation of the sewage system in the Buiucani sector, Chișinău” – Stanislav PEREVERZEV;
- “Renewable energy alternative for wastewater treatment plants in the Republic of Moldova: case study” – Dumitru SCHIVU;
- “Removal of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from groundwater” – Evgheni SUVAC.
The masters focused their investigations on in-depth studies and technical-economic analysis in the field of operation of water supply systems, sewerage, natural water treatment, wastewater treatment, recovery/usage of sewage sludge and renewable energy alternatives, presenting a series of solutions and recommendations for the improvement of the infrastructure of water supply, sewerage, environmental protection and human life in urban centers in terms of hygiene and comfort. Therefore, the provision of good quality services, including security of supply, tap water quality, sufficient and constant pressure in the supply network, efficient control of water pollution and its treatment can stimulate economic, industrial and commercial investments, which would undoubtedly boost the development of the country’s economy.
