The training “Creation, exploitation and publication of geospatial data for natural disaster management” brought together 125 representatives of HAZARM

Today, December 10, 125 representatives of the university academic environment (teachers, Bachelor, Master, Doctoral students) and practitioners in the research of landslides, floods, seismology, geodesy, and geo-information technologies participated in the scientific training course “Creation, exploitation and publication of geospatial data for natural disaster management”, organized online, on the MS TEAMS platform within the project „Integrated Networks for Hazard Risk Management (HAZARM)”, Joint Operational Programme Romania – Republic of Moldova, Priority 4.2 – Support to joint activities for the prevention of natural and man-made disasters as well as joint action during emergency situations – 2014-2020.

The training course brought together HAZARM partners from the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University from Iași, Romania – project leader, Technical University of Moldova – beneficiary no.1; Institute of Geology and Seismology – beneficiary no.2.

Accompanied by the TUM professors from the HAZARM team, senior scientific researchers Livia NISTOR-LOPATENCO (HAZARM project manager from TUM), Sergiu BEJAN, Vasile GRAMA, Ana VLASENCO, Vitalii MUTAF, Valeriu LUNGU; junior scientific researchers Ion CREŢU, Alexandru PANTAZ, Evghenii CUTIA, Vadim ŢURCAN, TABACARU Alexandru, SIG engineer, and the scientific coordinator Ion RUSU, univ. lect. Vitalie DILAN, Faculty of Geography, Tirapsol State University (based in Chișinău), doctoral student at TUM, the attendees at the training course were mostly students of the undergraduate programs “Construction and Civil Engineering”, years III-IV, “Geodesy, Topography and Cartography”, years I-IV, “Fire Safety and Civil Protection Engineering”, year IV, within the Faculty of Constructions, Geodesy and Cadastre, and “Urban Planning and Landscape Design”, year II, “Railways, Roads and Bridges”, year II, within the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning. As future specialists in the management and prevention of natural disasters, the students of the two faculties are an integral part and the target group of the project.

With the general objective of reducing the gap between Romania and the Republic of Moldova in the field of action planning in case of emergencies, as well as in the strategic approach to natural disasters through the creation of a cross-border hazard management network at the eastern border of the European Union, the participants in the training course addressed issues regarding the use of geospatial data for monitoring; SPERO disaster management infrastructure; Free and open satellite Earth observation data. Possible challenges and solutions; GEO Work Plan 2020-2022 – Intergovernmental Organization for the Efficient Use of Global Monitoring, approved at the 16th GEO Plenary Session in Canberra, Australia, and other important topics.

At the end of the training course, assoc. prof., Dr. Eng. Livia NISTOR-LOPATENCO, dean of FCGC-TUM, thanked the participants for their support and involvement. The dean mentioned that the audience is welcome to come up with new proposals for cross-border projects, but also ERASMUS+ KA2 (Action II, Capacity Building), given that the calls for proposals have already been opened.
