Today, December 7, 2021, the rector of the Technical University of Moldova, univ. prof., Dr. Viorel BOSTAN, and the vice-rector for Informatization, Partnerships, Institutional Image and Communication, Dinu ȚURCANU, paid an online visit to Darmstadt University of Technology (due to the fact that the German Government has recently tightened anti-coronavirus measures), together with Consul General Mihai CĂPĂȚÎNĂ, and Consul Ion COȘER, from the Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Frankfurt am Main.
The Technical University of Darmstadt was represented by the pro-rector, prof., Dr. Eng. Jens SCHNEIDER, and the head of the International Relations Department, Regina SONNTAG-KRUPP, who mentioned important details about the activity of the educational institution.
In the context of establishing the priorities for the bilateral collaboration, the rector Viorel BOSTAN drew attention to the need to boost the scientific sector, an important aspect in this regard being the initiation of an efficient exchange of experience and the transfer of best practices in research. Mr. BOSTAN mentioned that TUM, being the only technical higher education institution in the Republic of Moldova, is imperatively involved in research.
The goals of the external cooperation in this area were appreciated by the representatives of the Technical University of Darmstadt, particularly the vice-rector Jens Schneider, who declared that TUM is an impeccable platform for the development of cooperative relations, due to its history and vast popularity. He restated the need for collaboration in the field of research, noting that this partnership will increase the exchange of scientific and technical information.
On behalf of TUM, the rector Viorel BOSTAN expressed his openness for collaboration and development of institutional capacities, recognizing the exchange of knowledge and experience between the two universities as beneficial.
The meeting concluded with the establishment of the actions to be taken within the partnership. The initial phase will include the facilitation of mobility programs; collaboration on the training, research and exchange of information and instructional-methodical materials.
Concurrently, the rector of TUM chose to get involved in the mobilities within the ERASMUS+ Program, the institution already having a good experience in this regard.
The Consul General, Mihai CĂPĂȚÎNĂ considers the collaboration with the Technical University of Darmstadt a very important aspect in the process of accelerating TUM’s visibility internationally by extending all forms of cooperation, which will facilitate the exchange of experience and the new ways of capitalization on the scientific and research field. Mr CĂPĂȚÎNĂ expressed his gratitude for the openness of the guests.
In conclusion, the rector and vice-rector of TUM thanked the Consul General CĂPĂȚÎNĂ and Consul COȘER for the proposal to organize bilateral meetings between the management of the Technical University of Moldova and higher education institutions in Germany and other related engineering companies, the sessions being of major help for developing joint research projects, establishing partnerships on academic mobility, and exchanging experience in the field of innovative technologies currently being developed in Germany.
