Designer Corina ȚOPA, graduate of the specialty “Industrial Fashion Design”, currently a Master’s student in “Design and development of the product” at the Technical University of Moldova, successfully represented her University at CITY FASHION WEEK-2020 – the only fashion show event in Transylvania which is also part of the international circuit of the famous fashion shows in Milan, Paris, London, New York.
The festival supports students of the Fashion and Design faculties from Romania, and, recently, from the Republic of Moldova, and Corina ȚOPA had the opportunity to display one of her collections: NO S&A. The main focus of the theme was the most popular accessory at the moment – masks. The author also offered a very suggestive description of her collection:
– We reinterpreted the concept of masks as not only a necessary accessory, but a beautiful one, emphasizing on the idea that art and beauty must prevail both in the collections of fashion designers and in our daily lives. Transformed into pieces of jewellery, these articles maintain their primary role of protection and will stay as a reminder to us, for the years to come, of the extremely difficult period we are going through now, but also about how important it is to always protect ourselves and those around us. That being said, I would like to thank the team of the event for their professionalism and ability to organize such an exceptional show during the pandemic, especially the festival organizer, Ștefan FARRELL, who encouraged me to participate, as well as all the well-known designers, among which I felt welcome. I also thank my talented colleagues who dedicated themselves to bring my dream to its realization: Maria CRYGUN – secondary designer of accessories, Mihai JANU – the creator of the outfit I wore to the event, and Irina LIUBENCO, the technologist.
Given that the health crisis has imposed restrictions to protect our safety, the current edition of Fashion Week was turned into a modern digital production, taking place without an audience. The podium on which the models paraded was arranged in a film studio, and the fashion shows – recorded and broadcast later on TV and social networks. The organizer of the festival, Ștefan FARRELL, and the well-known designers Cătălin BOTEZATU, Romanița IOVAN, George HOJBOTĂ and Florin DOBRE offered to the debutant designers the possibility to get to know the great fashion designers of Romania, the representatives of some prestigious international brands, hair styling and make-up specialists, but also dozens of top models, with whom they exchanged prospects and contact details for further collaborations.
