The 15th edition of the Energy Forum of Central and Eastern Europe – the most important event, organized every two years and hosted by the Romanian National Committee of the World Energy Council (CNR-CME), took place, for the first time, in online format. Last week (September 7-10, 2020), at Vox Maris Grand Resort, Costinești, the event had among its participants two representatives of the Technical University of Moldova – Constantin BOROSAN and Cristina EFREMOV, PhD lecturers, Faculty of Power and Electrical Engineering.

As a major CME event, it aims to support the CME’s mission to gather the electrical engineering community to a dialogue on energy policies for a sustainable energy future. The big event included 10 main events, 5 sections of scientific communications, an international exhibition and 17 round tables at corporate level, held under the common theme ENERGY TRANSITION IN SOUTH EAST EUROPE: OPPORTUNITIES, CHALLENGES AND PERSPECTIVES.

80 papers were presented by renowned specialists who addressed: main aspects of energy policies during the transition period, energy markets and the integration of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency solutions, oil and gas, nuclear energy and technologies for the production of electricity from coal and district heating. In this context, the paper presented by the professors of FEIE-UTM, Constantin BOROSAN and Cristina EFREMOV – “Designing scenarios for energy system development in the context of global energy transition”, which aims at achieving the possibility of climate neutrality in Moldova by 2050. The paper is inspired by the EU initiative – European Green Pact, and the presentation and conclusions can be viewed in the attached video, specifying that future editions of the forum will be attended by energy companies from the Republic of Moldova.

In Mr. BOROSAN’s opinion, participation in this forum is an exclusive opportunity to increase visibility, exchange experience, share achievements, but also the opportunity to exchange good practices in the field.

Since 2011, FOREN has been recognized as the official regional meeting of the World Energy Council for Central and Eastern Europe.
