The Department of Electrical Engineering within the Faculty of Power and Electrical Engineering (FEIE) trains engineers in the specialties: “Electromechanical systems engineering” and “Engineering and quality management” (Bachelor’s degree) and “Electrical engineering” and “Engineering and quality management” – Master).

The Electrical Engineering Department is a leader in the field of research and development of wind and solar power plants, of electric machines with permanent magnets and rotor disks, of electronic trolleybus traction systems. It provides a workshop and various laboratories endowed with equipment, measuring devices, machines, electrical transformers, stands for laboratory work and devices for studies and scientific activities.

In the Ultra Modernized Workshop, students have the opportunity to conduct applied training courses throughout their years of study, researching and analyzing the functionality of machines with a wide field of implementation – both in industry or household appliances.

The laboratory of renewable energy sources within FEIE is the only one in the Republic of Moldova modernized at such a scale, being intended especially for the study of modern technologies for thermal and photovoltaic conversion of solar and wind energy. Here, students can test photovoltaic panels that generate electricity, the ET 220 turbine, other high-performance equipment, in order to deepen their knowledge within the study programs “Renewable energy sources”, “Energy-efficient buildings”, “Renewable engineering, applications” (Bachelor’s degree), but also within the Master’s degree program “Renewable energy Engineering”. Parallel to the training of students, the laboratory is used in the continuous professional training of teachers and managers in the vocational secondary education system and of specialists in the fields of electromechanics and energy.

In the Electrical Equipment Laboratory, students learn how to work with various installations and equipment – motors, renewable energy sources, electrical installations and electrical protection, building various samples and thus developing their creative thinking, theoretical and applied skills, in order to solve various engineering problems.
