FIEB: International Online Cooperation

Even if we #StayHome, the international cooperation activity continues online, thousands of kilometers away.

The Fulbright Specialist program, through which universities have the opportunity to invite US experts to disseminate knowledge and develop skills through projects approved by the US State Department, has opened for the Faculty of Economic Engineering and Business the opportunity to carry out one of the three approved projects for the Technical University of Moldova for 2020 – “Increasing interactions of FIEB and US Counterparts”, with the support of Prof., Dr. Valerie E. MOCK, former IBM manager, author of 25 books.

Unfortunately, the pandemic will not allow the project to commence on April 24th, 2020, as previously planned, it being postponed for a later date. But its objectives and tasks will focus on on the following agreed on priorities:

  • Develop the internationalization activity at FIEB, in particular by establishing and developing partnerships with American universities, which would allow the launch of joint projects, ensuring academic exchange, organizing short-term studies for UTM students.
  • Organizing seminars for teachers on new teaching methods, digital education, which have become especially important under the current conditions.
  • Teaching courses for Bachelor and Master’s FIEB students.

These being said, the cooperation activities started online by completing a questionnaire highlighting the areas of interest and possible areas of cooperation by FIEB teachers. The information will be examined by Prof., Dr. Valerie MOCK and Dean of FIEB, Associate Professor, Dr. Rafael CILOCI, to determine collaboration opportunities and to enable Prof. MOCK to identify US partner universities with which FIEB teachers will interact by e-mail, in order to establish an individual internationalization route.

Valerie E. MOCK is a doctor of economics, a professor in business history. Previously, she benefited from a Fulbright scholarship in Moldova, during which she provided the Marketing course for FIEB Master’s students. In the message in which she accepts the offer, it was mentioned that “she will return to UTM to support the development of FIEB”.
