A delegation of the Council for Institutional Strategic Development of the Technical University of Moldova, led by the rector, prof., Dr. Viorel BOSTAN, paid a visit to the “Transilvania” University of Brașov, Romania on January 13th, at the invitation of the host-rector, prof., Dr. Eng. Ioan Vasile ABRUDAN, Doctor Honoris Causa of UTM, who is also the president of CDSI-UTM.
The visit aimed for a meeting of the Institutional Strategic Development Council (CDSI) of UTM, which was preceded by trips to the top companies in the automotive field, the partnerships and the good relations with the socio-economic environment being essential for UTM in the preparation of future engineers.
Together with Veaceslav ŞUTCHEVICI, manager of the investment promotion component, the Project Advising the Government of the Republic of Moldova on Economic Policies, GIZ Moldova, and Dinu ȚURCANU, UTM vice-rector for Informatization, Partnerships, Institutional Image and Communication, the delegation visited the R&D Division of VITESCO TECHNOLOGY (#Continental) from Brașov, Romania, an activity that aims to open vast opportunities to further develop new directions of collaboration with the business environment. Continental, one of the largest international suppliers of automotive components and main tire manufacturer worldwide, has inaugurated in the Autumn of 2016, a new research and development center in Brașov, Romania. The technological leader in automotive components has invested 6 million euros in a new space, in top equipment and technologies, this investment being stimulated by the fact that Romania develops software and innovative products in the automotive field (about 5,000 engineers working for more efficient mobility).
The delegation also visited the auto parts manufacturer Preh Romania, a supplier for Porsche, Mercedes, Audi and BMW. The company owns a car component factory in Ghimbav, Braşov county, and software and hardware service centers in Iași and Brașov. At the Preh factory in Ghimbav, Braşov county, there are multi-function steering wheel switches, light-block switches, climate control systems and control elements in the center console of cars for BMW, Volkswagen, Porsche, Skoda, Seat, Audi and Mercedes. The company has a production and storage area of over 10,000 square meters in Ghimbav, to which was added a new unit of 13,000 square meters, designed for the production of electronic circuits (Surface Mount Technology – automatic machines for populating plates with electronic components).
The actual meeting of the CDSI, chaired by the prof., Dr. Eng. Ioan Vasile ABRUDAN, included very important topics for the proper functioning of UTM in 2020, but also strategic issues for the effective progress of superior technical engineering education: elaboration and promotion of the strategic development and consolidation objectives of the UTM through the full realization of the CDSI attributions, especially in the issues related to the development of human resources, heritage, attraction of investments and complementary financing, extension of public-private partnerships, deepening of relations with the industry, strengthening the educational and research capacities, all these objectives being systematically correlated with the University’s Strategic Development Plan.
The visit of the UTM delegation to Brașov was also marked by an important meeting for the exchange of experience in the field of dual education, with the participation of senior officials of the UTA Gagauzia: Olesya TANASOGLO, the vice-president of the Executive Committee on Social Issues of UTAG; Natalia KRISTEVA, head of the General Education Department; Ivan KOLIOGLO, head of the General Directorate for Construction and Infrastructure; Natalia CIUVALSCAIA, head of the General Directorate of Economic Development; but also Werner BRAUN, president of the German Economic Club Brașov; Ioan Vasile ABRUDAN, rector of the “Transilvania” University of Brașov; prof., dr. Viorel BOSTAN, rector of the Technical University of Moldova; prof., dr. Larisa BUGAIAN, vice-rector of UTM for Financial Issues and International Relations, Dinu ȚURCANU, vice-ector of UTM for Informatization, Partnerships, Institutional Image and Communication; prof., dr. Maria GHEORGHIȚĂ, secretary of CDSI-UTM; Victor CATAN, CDSI member; Veaceslav ŞUTCHEVICI, manager of the component “Investment promotion”, Germany International Cooperation Agency GIZ Moldova, CDSI member. During the meeting, the subject regarding the construction of an Industrial College in Comrat was discussed, the project being previously addressed during working meetings with the UTM administration, in Chișinău.
The CDSI visit to Brașov ended with a trip to the manufacturer of interior components for cars QUIN Romania – a modern factory with 1534 employees, located in the heart of the Carpathians.
