A creative and fun event with a professional approach took place at the end of the semester, on December 19th, at Tekwill, under the title Winter ArchDesign Festival.

This beautiful festivity, occasioned by the winter holidays (and which aims to become, in the future, a tradition of competitiveness for UTM students), was organized with the goal of stimulating the creativity of young people in the artistic industries, but also with the idea of promoting the values of traditional culture through innovation and technology transfer.

Designed as a platform for collaboration and exchange of experience between the students of Architecture and Design from the Technical University of Moldova, the festivity included a Competition of Creative Industries from UTM, in which 128 students participated in the study programs Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Industrial Clothing Design, Polygraphic Design and Technologies.

They presented about 200 design works on 5 thematic sections: Illustrated for the winter holidays, Decorations for the Christmas tree, Thematic masks, Christmas tree and Creative toys.

The Judging Committee of the Creative Works was formed by well-known personalities in the field of inland architecture and design, such as Maxim CALUJAC, architect nominated for the international competition East Centric Arhitext Awards; Carolina TULGARA, Executive Director of the UTM ZIPhouse Center of Excellence; Teodor NAVAL, architect, founder of OLD ARCHITECTURE SRL; Sergiu MÎNDRESCU, designer, art director SMART DESIGN SRL.

The 15 winners of the competition were handed diplomas and money prizes, all participants being appreciated with participation diplomas.

The second part of the event started with a Creative Party – with a musical program, organized by UTM’s instrumental and vocal band TechBand, with an exceptional recital of carols by the UTM Student Union Committee and, of course, with a feast organized by the team of the Didactic-Methodological and Production Center of UTM (director: Carolina GROSU).

Obviously, organizing this special celebration was possible thanks to the partners and sponsors of the event, to whom we bring gratitude:

  • Hosts of the event, Tekwill IT Center;
  • The Student Union Committee and the UTM Student Senate (President: Ana-Maria Cîrja), who made a substantial contribution to the organization and conduct of the event, including an exceptional music program;
  • SmartDesign companies; Energ Complect SRL (Nistor GROZAVU); Astral Proiect SRL (Sergiu BEJAN); OLD ARCHITECTURE SRL (Teodor NAVAL); Centrul de Excelență ZIPhouse (Carolina TULGARA), who financially supported the organization of the event;
  • Vinăria din Vale Companies; Vitanta Efes Moldova; RedBull Moldova, who assured the good mood and the festive atmosphere to the participants of the event through their free products.

And of course, special thanks to the rector of UTM, prof., Dr. Viorel BOSTAN, and the UTM administration, deans, department heads and teachers, involved in organizing and conducting this beautiful event – to support the creativity, originality and innovation of young designers and architects from UTM in interpreting the beauty of traditional culture!

We wish the young creators much inspiration and, of course, fruitful participation in the next editions of the festivity! A Happy New Year, with inspiration, ambition, new projects and achievements!
