FCIM students competed in “Database Management”

60 students from the Department of Software and Automatic Engineering, the specialties “Information Technology”, “Software Engineering”, “Information Security”, 2nd and 3rd year, Faculty of Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics, participated in the second edition of the “Database Management” competition, forming 20 teams.

The participants of the contest had to meet several conditions, namely: a good attendance at lessons during the semester, having supported all the laboratory work for the “Database” class and both attestation tests, the knowledge gained during the study of  “Database”, which developed their skills for analyzing, designing and managing databases. At the same time, students have proved that they know how to work in teams, define and distribute tasks and manage time effectively.

The aim of the competition was to highlight the level and importance of the field of database management and analysis, to identify the technical creativity of the students in designing the databases, to establish new collaborative relationships between companies, teachers and students in order to ensure an efficient transfer of data knowledge and practical experience regarding database management.

The good organization and flow of the current edition of the contest was supported by the general sponsors of UTM and BC “Moldova Agroindbank” SA.

The contest was judged by the representatives of 5 companies: Mulear Tatiana – BC Moldova Agroindbank SA; Bejenaru Diana – BC Moldova Agroindbank SA; Sergiu Gafton – Trimaran SRL; Serghei Revneala – Aristim Software SRL; Dan Gangan – Orange Moldova; Vitalie Aremescu, EBS Integrator.

Finally, I-III places of the competition were conquered by 7 teams. For the effort made, the winning teams were rewarded with diplomas of excellence, money prizes from the sponsor MAIB and shirts with the logo of the Technical University of Moldova from the sponsor UTM.

The participants expressed sincere gratitude to the sponsors, the jury, the teachers responsible for organizing the contest: prof., Dr. Vitalie Cotelea, lect. Svetlana Ghetmancenco, lect. Dorian Saranciuc, lect. Rodica Bulai, moderators of the competition – students Jovmir Cristina and Dolghieru Rodica, fourth year, group SI-161, also the dean of FCIM, associate professor, Dr. Dumitru Ciorbă; head of ISA Department, associate professor, Dr. Ion Fiodorov, for all the support and encouragement!
