On December 10th, 2019, the certificates of graduation of the English courses were handed to a group of 32 teachers from all the faculties of the Technical University of Moldova. Associate professor, PhD Svetlana CATERENCIUC, head of the Department of Foreign Languages, congratulated the students for the opportunity to have learned this very necessary and important work tool for the didactic activity that they carry out.
As this is already a third generation of course graduates, it is also eloquent proof that, unquestionably, the knowledge of the English language opens up great opportunities in the professional career of university teachers, such as the teaching specialized courses in the English language, the participation in international conferences with presentations / communications in English, the signing of bilateral cooperation agreements with EU universities regarding the implementation of common didactic-scientific projects, but also possibilities of academic mobility and teaching improvement.
The associate professor Svetlana CATERENCIUC also thanked the teachers/trainers, the university assistants Ludmila CIUMAC, Olga ZINGAN, Lilia BURDILA, for the dedication shown in the formation of the language skills of the teaching staff. The courses focused on improving the understanding of written documents, speaking skills, the technique of grasping the main idea from given information and illustrating it through graphic images, diagrams, tables, figures, using ICT means, but also learning through didactic games and heuristics conversations, writing papers and listening to authentic teaching materials.
The teachers who taught at the courses congratulated their fellow audiences for their diligence and success, declaring themselves proud that, through these courses, they can guide colleagues from all UTM faculties to have direct access to education on a global scale.
Currently, within the Department of Foreign Languages, UTM is teaching English courses to four other groups of teachers: three groups are already in their second year of study, and one group – in their first year.
