A major event in the local fashion industry took place the previous weekend at UTM, in Tekwill: the fourth edition of Moldova in Fashion Conference, organized on November 16th, by the ZIPhouse Center of Excellence and Acceleration in Design and Technologies of UTM.

The event was opened by the guests of honor, representatives of the partners: the rector of UTM, prof., Dr Viorel BOSTAN, Sweden’s ambassador to Moldova Anna LYBERG, director of the Investment Agency of Moldova Rodica VERBENIUC, president of the Employers’ Association of the Light Industry (APIUS) Alexandra CAN.

The conference was focused on the concepts of innovation and sustainability in the fashion industry. Among the most disputed topics of the communications were: the trends of development of the design and fashion fields, including for 2020; fashion sustainability; new materials and processes in the fashion industry; smart textiles and prototyping technologies in 3DaaS fashion.

International speakers and professionals in the field were present, such as Giovanni OTTONELLO (Italy), Laurenti ARNAULT (UK), Shalev AMNON (Israel), Philippe POURHASHEMI (Belgium), Ricardo O`NASCIMENTO (UK), but also local experts – Nicholas OPOPOL, Geta RASCIUC, Anna SHOYKHET.

This annual event has a special impact for the business and academic sectors, specialized in the field of light industry, constituting an effective platform for collaboration, exchange of experience and opinions between reputable experts from abroad and professionals from the country, entrepreneurs and production representatives, executives, teachers and students, designers and fashion enthusiasts.

The extremely lucrative and motivational atmosphere of the conference was complemented by the consistent content of the speeches, by the effective connections and co-operation of the participants, as well as by the excellent organization and unfolding, logistically, of the event. This fact is largely due to the ZIPhouse team, the volunteer students from the Textile and Polygraphy Faculty of UTM, but also to the partners of the ZIPhouse Center and the event sponsors.

The event was organized by CEADT ZIPhouse of the Technical University of Moldova, in partnership with the Employers Association of the Light Industry (APIUS) and the support of the Competitiveness Project in Moldova, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Government of Sweden, part of Moldova Business Week 2019 organized by the Investment Agency of Moldova, in partnership with Box Catering, Cărturești Chișinău, Julius Meinl, Dryco Shop-Dried Plums, Tromigou, Eternity Water, Martely.
