“Cyber security can be considered an opportunity for universities, as it is one of the fastest growing sectors in the world. In this respect, the demand for qualified specialists in this field is also growing” said, in his greeting message at the Cyber Security Regional Forum “Moldova Cyber Week” 2019, prof., dr. Viorel BOSTAN, rector of the Technical University of Moldova.
Mr. Bostan noted that today, cyber attacks are increasing in frequency, and, even more alarming, in complexity, becoming more sophisticated and more elaborate. These attacks refer not only to government structures, banking institutions, infrastructure, corporations, but also to small and medium-sized enterprises, individuals, academic structures, which would seem to be not affected as much. This cyber security industry is one of the fastest growing.
At the same time, the Rector of UTM specified that, in addition to these threats and challenges which we face today, there are also opportunities for universities, which means that there will still be a huge shortage of cyber security specialists.
“But for us, in this case, it is very important to train specialists who meet the demands of the labor market. It is also an opportunity for us to get involved with the industry in research and development projects, because we have highly trained people”, summarized Rector Bostan, stressing that the key to success in any activity involves cooperation and integrated partnership.
