The seminar on the opportunities of the Erasmus+ program for the internationalization of higher education institutions, organized on Thursday, October 31st, by the heads of international relations from the Faculty of Economic Engineering and Business (prof., dr. Cornelia CRUCERESCU), and the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning (lecturer Alina OSTAPOV), included two events: the launch of the Jean Monnet Module project Sustainable Industrial Development in the Context of European Integration (EU4SID) and informing students about the opportunities for Erasmus+ academic mobility.
In the first part of the event, the Faculty of Economic Engineering and Business and the members of the project team were congratulated by the guests on the occasion of winning the Jean Monnet – EU4SID project, presenting themselves proud and eager to be fully involved in its successful implementation.
“Such a project is a pioneer for UTM. Having a very relevant theme, it will definitely contribute to promoting educational innovations and increasing the visibility of UTM”, said prof. Larisa BUGAIAN, vice-rector for Finance and International Relations.
“The importance of the project lies in the fact that it allows the accomplishment of teachers’ expectations regarding the organization of studies and of the various activities dedicated to the promotion of values and principles of the European Union”, mentioned Claudia MELINTE, coordinator of the Erasmus+ National Office.
Victoria ROȘA, Prime Minister’s State Counselor, made reference to the constant support of the European Union for the Republic of Moldova in various fields, including education. The Jean Monnet program is part of a series of initiatives favorable to both students and teachers, and taking advantage of every opportunity contributes to the development and prosperity of the country.
The participants in the event were informed of the basic and specific objectives of the project, the actions to be taken for the different target groups and the expected results (https://proiecte.utm.md/jean-monnet-2/), these being presented by the project coordinator, prof., dr. Cornelia CRUCERESCU. The base activity of the project is the organization of the Master’s course, integrated into three study programs within FIEB – “Strategic management of sustainable industrial development in the context of European integration“. For students outside these study programs, both from the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, a spring / summer school will be organized with the same theme, which will finalize with the issuance of participation certificates. Students of leading positions in the essay contest and those with the best Master theses on the subject of the project will receive confirmation certificates.
Dr. Rafael CILOCI, dean FIEB, member of the project team, stressed the importance of developing sustainable development skills in terms of European integration in different branches – constructions, industry, energetics, etc. The Jean Monnet project makes a major contribution in this regard, and the future is in the hands of the young people who will achieve these goals by implementing complex and multidisciplinary knowledge.
“The studies on the European Union deserve more attention”, considers the associate professor, dr. Veaceslav BÂRDAN, head of the Department of Economic Theory and Marketing, member of the project team. “The importance of these studies essentially contributes to the professional training of the students, which opens more doors for them and allows them to advance in their professional career”.
In the second part of the seminar, the students were informed about the offers of the Erasmus+ program on academic mobility and their benefits, presented by Claudia MELINTE – coordinator of the Erasmus+ National Office. The vice-rector Larisa BUGAIAN urged students to pay special attention to studying languages, to access the UTM website in order to be up to date with all the events held at the university, to be active and to apply to student mobility offers.
At the same time, the students of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning – Tudor VLAS, Mihaela LEAHU, Ion MANEA, Victoria LUNGU and Daniela LUNGU shared bits from their own experience gained during this program. Other possibilities to which students can apply directly have been mentioned as well, such as: Youth Exchange, trainings, Job Shadowing, Study Visits, Global UGRAD, volunteering and others. Thestudents provided informational support to their colleagues and suggested that they apply to different programs, in order to broaden their horizons in different aspects: cultural, spiritual, moral and social.
