Bookfest-2019 in Chișinău

The International Bookfest Book Fair, held annually in Chișinău since 1990, is honored by the contribution of a massive number of Romanian publishers, funded by the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi Institute for Romanians Everywhere.

This year, at the Salon, alongside 24 publishers from the Republic of Moldova, 22 publishers from Romania participated, among which renowned book institutions – Humanitas, RAO, Curtea Veche, Nemira from Bucharest, Junimea from Iași. For the second time, the AGIR Publishing House (director: I. Ganea) also participated, with a hundred book titles, published in recent years.

Prof., dr. Alexandru MARIN, director of TEHNICA-INFO Publishing House, Chișinău, tells us:

– In 2005, at the first edition, when the best publishers and authors of books received diplomas and money prizes, the jury of the Book Salon chose the AGIR as the Publishing House of the Year – the best publishing house in the Romanian area. Over the years, we are happy that literature and books are still celebrated in Chișinău. This year, we had the honor to welcome, among the visitors of Bookfest-2019, Mrs. Prime Minister Maia SANDU, who stopped at the AGIR stand, noting that the books presented can be very useful for Moldovan specialists. When I told her that all these books, after the closing of the Salon, will be donated to the Technical University of Moldova, Mrs. Sandu declared to be pleasantly surprised. She particularly expressed her appreciation for the 34 explanatory dictionary titles dedicated, practically, to all the engineering fields. The knowledge and use of the correct technical language, she mentioned, are of particular importance for the specialists of the Republic of Moldova, because, in recent years, the economic relations with Romania are developing rapidly.

Moreover, this year’s donation is not the first. For over 15 years, the General Engineers Association of Romania has made impressive donations (over 10,000 copies), knowing full well that for the Technical University of Moldova, during 1990, the need for manuals in romanian related to the technical field, was grand.

In this context, the rector of UTM, prof., dr. Viorel BOSTAN, expressed sincere gratitude for the book donations from AGIR, which are of particular importance for the Technical University of Moldova in the training of highly qualified specialists.
