One of the special moments of the remarkable event “The Days of the Academy of Technical Sciences of Romania”, held for the first time in Chișinău, was the recognition of the scientific and professional merits of four teacher-scientists, who made their name in the field of science.
Emphasizing the importance of the moment, the president of the Romanian Academy of Technical Sciences, Mihai MIHĂIȚĂ, announced the audience that the General Assembly of the Romanian Academy of Technical Sciences, reunited on Thursday, June 13, 2019, has decided the selection of four individuals as members of honour, in recognition of their remarkable activity in the field of science and technology.
After being invited on stage for the awarding of the Member of Honour diploma, prof. And dr. Rodica STURZA, head of the Department of Oenology and Chemistry of the Faculty of Food Technology, UTM, showed gratitude for the confidence and trust received, stressing that her achievements are a collective success and promised to continue progressing in the field of science.
With the applause of those present, prof. and dr. Oleg LUPAN, holder of the Department of Microelectronics and Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics, UTM, Laureate of the National Prize and the most worldwide recognized scientist of the Republic of Moldova came on stage. Holding about 10 patents, over 350 publications, including 157 ISI quotes, over 6500 (Scopus) international citations, >7600 (GoogleScholar), his Hirsch personal index exceeds 40 and contributes directly to the Hirsch index of the Republic of Moldova, he mentioned that he will continue to contribute to the development and advancement of autochthonous science internationally.
Prof. and dr. Pavel Alexei TOPALĂ, from the “Alecu Russo” State University in Bălți, remarked that his first doctoral thesis was to be supported at the Polytechnic University in Bucharest, and today, Bucharest came to Chișinău, occasion on which he expressed sincere gratitude.
Dr. Carsten DREBENSTEDT, professor at the Technical University of Bergakademie Freiberg, Institute for Mining and Special Civil Engineering, had an unusual appearance on stage. Devoted body and soul to the field that he has been passionate about for decades, he proudly wore the traditional german uniform of miners.
